19/02/2021

Anti-Fascist Infos Neukölln disseminates English language translations of current information about Anti-fascist organizing and right-wing terror in Neukölln, Berlin.

Our site does not produce new content, but is rather a resource for English language speakers to access information produced by the many groups already active in Neukölln. Our aim is build political consciousness and awareness among international and English-speaking Neukölln residents around right-wing and organised racist groups in the district, and those mobilizing to stop them. We would like to help in broadcasting this information.

We are not professional translators, but English speakers and Anti-fascists living in Neukölln. We do not have the capacity to translate all content produced by the many Anti-racist and Anti-fascist activists, which have long been working in the area. We aim to provide an introduction and links to these groups.

Keep a look out for Anti-Fascist Infos Neukölln’s English-language subtitles of this documentary on survivors of right-wing attacks in Neukölln. Follow the group on Instagram @neukoelln_antifa_info_english.

IALANA

International Association of Lawyers against Nuclear Arms

12/02/2021

Founded in 1988 in Stockholm IALANA has grown into a fully-fledged international citizens’ organization with consultative status with the United Nations.

IALANA has also expanded its scope of action to include

  • efforts to abolish all types of inhumane weapons and to control the international arms trade,

  • advancing concepts of security based on the application of law and legal mechanisms, development of non-offensive defence and implementation of confidence building measures,

  • encouraging the establishment and use of the International Criminal Court and other legal procedures to address crimes against international humanitarian law.

The German section was formed in June 1989 in Bonn as a non-profit organisation. The remit was later extended to include biological and chemical weapons and peaceful peace building. In 2016 the name was updated. The organisation is now called „IALANA Deutschland e.V. -association for the right to peace – German section of the International Association of Lawyers against Nuclear Arms (IALANA)“.

In Germany, IALANA started 1990 with an international colloquium and critical contributions on NATO’s strategy for nuclear weapons. Participants from 13 nations, including high-ranking military, legal and peace scientists, attended the colloquium in Berlin where they discussed the legal and political aspects of the doctrine of deterrence. We support the international efforts towards nuclear disarmament, in particular the World Court Project, the resulting conferences on the non-proliferation treaty and more recently the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons of 2017.

On 22 January 2021, a new Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons came into force. Unfortunately, Germany is not a  signatory. IALANA demands that this changes.

On 20 January 2021, IALANA Deutschland e.V. presented an appeal aimed at Chancellor Merkel, the German Federal government and German MPs. A wide range of 319 initial signatories called on the recipients to:

  • sign and ratify the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons!

  • Stop the stationing of new US American B 61-12 atom bombs at the German Air Force base in Büchel, so as to prevent dangerous new nuclear armament on German soil!

  • Stop the planned purchase of 45 US American F18 fighter planes as nuclear weapon carriers for the tactical air force squadron 33 of the German army.

You can view the appeal “Join the Treaty on the the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons – stop the nuclear armament of Germany here, and view the initial signatories and sign it yourself here.

Co-Liberation

Berlin-based, Polish-speaking, queer-feminist collective

05/02/2021

Constellation of Liberation (Co-Liberation) is a Berlin-based, Polish-speaking, queer-feminist collective, founded in January 2021.

We believe in a feminism that is queer, anti-capitalist and anti-fascist, and a feminism that is based around notions of radical care.

We invest our energy into the fight for reproductive justice. We stand for free, safe, legal and accessible abortion. We believe birth control should be free and available and that sex education should be taught in schools and through public information campaigns. We demand unrestricted physical, sexual and reproductive autonomy for everyone, especially women, non-binary and trans* people.

CoLiberation is an actor in the resistance against the rise of right-wing and fundamentalist powers, with a focus on Poland, where the right-wing has been leading a systematic rollback of the rights of women and LGBTQIA people. By pushing against the populist, right-wing web of political structures underlying contemporary power struggles, we are working towards transnational feminist solidarity. We recognise that our context is Poland, but we strive to connect with global anti-patriarchal, anti-capitalist and anti-fascist struggles.

In our work we encourage each other to be brave and to push boundaries, to be transparent, responsible and to listen actively; we like to be creative and to use art in our actions.

CoLiberation might be a new collective, but we are not new activists – you would have seen us in the streets of Berlin over the last several months and years. All of our members have been prominently active in the fight for abortion rights in Poland and abortion rights in Germany, and in the fight for the rights of queer people in Poland.

Let’s liberate each other.

Follow us on Twitter, Instagram and our Telegram channel, where we are @CoLiberationBLN.

Our next action is on Saturday, 13 February, when we will be collecting donations of either the Morning After Pill (Die Pille Danach) or donations towards buying these pills, which we will then take directly to the Polish pro-choice organisation, Abortion Dream Team; they will distribute it to areas which need it most in Poland.

Syrien Hilfe

Until 19 February 2021, Syrien Hilfe is taking part in a relief campaign for refugees in the region of Idlib in the North West of Syria. We are collecting donations in Berlin which, together with our trustworthy partners, we will send to Syria.

Perhaps you remember the news headlines. Countless people fled there to protect themselves from the bombing. In the absence of accommodation, they are living in tents in olive tree fields or even in the open air – and now it’s Winter.

How can you help? The products which your organisation may provide are urgently needed in the local camps. It would truly be a great help if you could would make part of your produce available as a donation. Among other things, we are collecting:

  • bicycles

  • wheelchairs

  • blankets, bedding, pillows and mattresses

  • sports equipment

  • school equipment, stationery, school supplies

  • medical aids

  • sanitary products such as nappies

100% of our help goes to the people in need – we have guaranteed this for years! If you need a receipt for your donation, of course we can send them.

We are collecting donations in the Haus der Statistik in Berlin Mitte (Otto-Braun-Straße 70-72) between 25th January 2021 and 19th February. You can also ring Project Manager Hiba Albassir at 0152 / 33608076.

Wir haben es Satt

Demonstrating against Agribusiness

15/01/2021

Wir haben es Satt! is an alliance of over 60 organisations. It organizes a demonstration against Agribusiness every January in Berlin at the opening of the world’s largest argriculture fair, the “Grüne Woche”.

The demonstration has been organised by farmers, engaged youth and critical citizens since 2001. In super election year, Wir haben es Satt! is confronting the current government with the following demands:

  • Stop the perishing of farms – support farmers in conversion efforts towards sustainability!

  • No more animal factories – support of corresponding reconstruction of stables & reduction of numbers of animals

  • Fight climate crisis – reduce consumption of meat & protect healthy soil!

  • Finally exit pesticide use & no more genetic engineering – protect health and insects!

  • EU-Mercosur deal in the garbage can – for human rights, against free trade adreements!

Because of Covid-19, this year’s will take place largely online. Organisers ask you to do the following the support the demonstration:

Stay at home and participate in the direct action footprint, our protest from afar. On 16 January we will bring your footprints for the agricultural turnaround to the Federal Chancellery. That’s how we will stand up for a fundamental change of agricultural and nutrition policies. Let’s together kick off the agricultural turnaround!

It’s super easy to participate:

  1. Step on a slip of paper with your foot or shoe, dipped in colour

  2. Add your demands

  3. Share your picture in social media under #AgrarwendeLostreten

  4. Upload you picture here

In Berlin each of your steps will be part of a giant picture put together for a sustainable agriculture and for climate justice. We will present your footsteps in front of the Federal Chancellery, and we will show that lots and lots of people stand up for sustainable agriculture – in spite of the pandemic or rather because of it.

Conventional and ecologically active farmers fight in the Wir haben es satt! alliance shoulder to shoulder with civil society against the fatal consequences of intensive industrial agriculture. Collectively, the alliance demonstrates ways for a rural agriculture which, with more defence of the environment, animals and climate, has a wide consent from the public and offers farms economic perspectives
