Disarm Kiel – Sink the War Industry

Antimilitarist camp in Kiel between the 3rd and 8th September

Resistance against the daily reality of armament, militarisation, war, flight, displacement and suffering worldwide. With hundreds of activists we will gather in the Werftpark of the northern German city of Kiel, a hotspot of the arms industry and military. There we will discuss our strategies against the global regimes of war and imperialism together with our international friends and comrades and engage in direct action against the war industry.

Our camp will be a space of solidarity, discussion, mutual learning and fighting. Our extensive programme informs about wars (for example in Palestine, Sudan and Kurdistan) struggles worldwide, as well as antimilitaristic history (of Kiel and it’s workers and sailors role in the 1918 revolution), fighting strategies and means of organizing ourselves. Feminist critique and action against war and militarism is one of our main issues, so there will be a programme and actions by the autonomous feminist group of Rheinmetall Entwaffnen during the camp. There will also be an anti-militarist cultural programme.

We do our best to minimize barriers and make the camp accessible for everyone who wants to join. Information on how to reach our camp and what to bring for it’s duration can be found here. Our alliance, “Rheinmetall Entwaffnen” is an association of anti-capitalist, internationalist, feminist and antimilitarist groups. We got together protesting the German arms industry’s involvement in the Turkish aggression against Afrin and Kurdistan. The Leopard-2 tanks used by the Turkish army in that invasion are partly a product of Germanys largest arms producer, Rheinmetall, which is why we took as our name and goal to disarm this war-profiting company. Since then, we have engaged in direct action, blockades and protest against the German arms industry and organized camps, for exmaple Unterlüß and Kassel. This year, we are getting active in Kiel, hoping to rekindle its revolutionary history in which the sailors and workers of Kiel helped end the first world war and toppled the monarchy in 1918.

Join us on Thursday, 15th August 2024 for a special fundraising event at the bUm Auditorium. From 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, we’ll gather to uplift the voices of Gaza’s children through readings, music, and conversation.

  • Author’s Reading: Leila Boukarim and Asaf Luzon will read excerpts from “A Million Kites,” sharing powerful poems and testimonies from Gaza’s children.

Palestine Solidarity is Disability Justice

An Evening of Performances, Conversation, and Party

On August 10 from 7PM – late, we invite you to celebrate the start of Mixed Feelings 2: Still With Mixed Feelings at 90mil in Berlin.

Mixed Feelings 2, following on from our project Mixed Feelings in 2023, will continue to explore accessibility in the arts. Hosted by Saverio Cantoni and Dana Cermane on Refuge Worldwide, the project is produced from the experience and practices of disabled artists worldwide.

With six radio broadcasts in German and English spoken language with transcripts, and International Sign Language with subtitles, Mixed Feelings challenges hearing supremacy and ableism in radio and events.

A launch event at 90mil on August 10 will celebrate the new series and bring Mixed Feelings audiences together in person.

Mixed Feelings believes disability justice means justice for all, and calls for solidarity with Palestinian disabled and d/Deaf communities.

Entry fee: Free, donations are encouraged

Where: 90mil, Near S Jannowitzbrücke. (90mil’s address is private. Please email neunzigmil@gmail.com for the address, description of how to get there, and/or requests for accompaniment from the train station).

90mil is a temporary arts venue that focuses on providing access to art and culture to a wide community. Donations will be collected for a Palestine solidarity cause at the door.

Exhibition: Witness

شاهد Gaza Through Children’s Eyes

In a land where bombs are a more frequent sound than birds, drawing, painting, and craft become important channels for children to express their feelings and fears.

Welcome to WITNESS شاهد, an exhibition that offers a glimpse into the lives of Palestinian children. These drawings are created by children living in the Gaza Strip, who have been enduring forced displacement, trauma and loss.

The Palestine Humanitarian Response Campaign  (PHRC) established the Children’s Village outside the IDP camps in Rafah in December 2023. The Village aims to provide a sense of security and support for more than 250 children amidst the chaos and the deadly Israeli assaults. Every day, 15 dedicated adults with professional backgrounds in various fields run activities that bring joy and hope to the young people, including arts, music, dance, circus performances, or games.

As you walk through this exhibition, we invite you to see the world through the eyes of the children of Gaza. Let these silent voices move you, and let this exhibition be a call to action for justice and humanity.

Internationalist Queer Pride 2024

For an anti-colonial, anti-racist, anti-capitalist fight for freedom

The Internationalist Queer Pride 2024 is taking place on Saturday, 27 July 2024 at 3pm (Hermannplatz). Our Internationalist Queer Pride for Liberation is not a rave! It is a fight!

We are a network of queer and trans groups and individuals who are connected by the same goal: a transformed world where all of us live free from any level of systemic oppression and discrimination; where our sexualities are freely expressed and explored; where our identities are self-determined; where our bodies —and all bodies — are free to be, to choose, to move; where we care for each other; where there are no borders, no weapons, no cops; where everything is organized towards our well-being, and the well-being of animals and the environment. We are all contributing to building this revolutionary world through our everyday struggles.

We come together in this spirit to organize the Internationalist Queer Pride for Liberation, a revolutionary queer/trans-led protest where we bring our bodies, our voices, and our struggles to the street to connect, to be in solidarity, and to build collective empowerment to win rights. We are fighting for liberation in Palestine, in Sudan, in Congo, in Kashmir, in Abya Yala, in Afghanistan, in Haiti, and elsewhere.

Queer liberation can only be achieved by a revolutionary politics: a rebellious existence that challenges the violence of the gender binary, normative body and sexual politics, colonial oppression, the criminalization of sex workers, and constant ecological transformation; one that starts from anti-colonial and anti-capitalist perspectives.

Our queerness opposes the concentration of power and wealth in the hands of the very few who continue to profit from centuries of exploitation, genocides, wars, and all forms of colonialism. Through our queerness, we imagine and redefine alternative ways of being, of living, and of organizing. In the face of warfare and fascism, we stand firm in our determination to survive and thrive, united in revolutionary love and solidarity. We stand together to say: “None of us are free until all of us are free!”
