About the Event

Shit is getting real

The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) report suggested we have 12 years to prevent catastrophe. The last two years have seen unprecedented storms, drought, flooding and other crises. Millions of people have been affected, in particular poor people in the Global South.

There is some debate about the exact figures, but it is becoming increasingly clear that capitalism is killing our planet. The Fridays for Future demonstrations have shown that masses of people are not prepared to let this happen without a struggle,

But how can the environment be saved? Is it sufficient to fly less and go vegan? If it isn’t, how can we force large firms to give up on their thirst for profit and do something to stop environmental disaster?

In our monthly meeting, die LINKE Berlin Internationals will be talking to an activist from Students for Future about why the environment has become so endangered, and what we can do to turn the tide.
